She's Finally Here

Our Daughter's Finally Here!!!

Jen was experiencing random contractions throughout yesterday, but was becoming more uncomfortable around 6:30 pm (about 15 minutes apart). I got home from work at about 8 and they were getting closer together. At about 10:15, we were told to head to the hospital. We sat in an assessment room for about an hour, just waiting for Jen's contractions to get closer together (they were about 10 min. apart by now).

We were moved to a labor and delivery room at about midnight. There, Jen's contractions became more intense and closer. She was sitting on a exercise ball for a bit, but became increasingly uncomfortable and stood up. Immediately, her water broke at 12:55 and labor was on full boar. She laid down and was in such pain, but was toughing it out like a trooper.

It became apparent that her contractions were occurring one on top of another and they were taking a toll. The Dr. was paged STAT, but Jen was feeling the urge to push. All the nurses and myself told her to resist the temptation of pushing. She did very well, but our little girl wanted out. By the time I knew it, nurses were running in and a midwife (not taking care of Jen) came into our room and prepared for delivery without our Dr. The nurses and I tried to keep Jen calm, but to no prevail, our baby already had her head out. With one actual push, Jen delivered our second child. Our little girl actually slipped onto the bed because the nurses and midwife were putting their gloves on when it happened so fast. Jen delivered at 1:35 am today.

Jen was so strong and I'd like to say, "dominated" this labor. It was so quick, I just can't fathom it. Jen and our little girl are doing very well. No hiccups of any kind. Thanks for all your prayers and support during this pregnancy.

Oh Yeah, I spose you're getting sick of me stating "our little girl." We named her VIOLET ADELE KELLY
